Synopsis

The Biellese is a territory composed of numerous urban aggregations immersed in a green sea of forests, mountains and fields branching out over five valleys, each of which is characterized by a watercourse. These specificities give the province of Biella the characteristic of "Archipelago City." "Biella Città Arcipelago Demopratico - sustainability and creativity in action in the Biellese" is an exhibition highlighting the sustainable organisations of the Biellese region. It is a creative planning laboratory that invites organizations in the territory (associations, companies, schools, public instituions) to collaborate and actively participate in the drafting of a program of concrete actions aimed at the sustainable renaissance of the Biellese region. The Biellese, told through the sustainable actions carried out by each individual organization, is revealed to be a territory "archipelago of good practices and vitality" in ferment and headed toward sustainable prosperity. The exhibition is therefore a continuously updated device designed to always include new actors active on sustainability.

It takes place in the wake of the recognition of Biella Unesco Creative City whose official symbol is Michelangelo Pistoletto's Third Paradise representing the balanced connection between artifice and nature. It is developed with the contribution of the BIellezza Foundation and in connection with Local Institutions, as part of the initiatives of Biella Unesco Creative City and Festival Arcipelago.

It hosts action groups that, around thematic working tables, meet monthly to draw up a plan of sustainable development actions for the Biella region in the following areas: energy:

renewables, electrification and energy communities (SDG 7);
water: access and infrastructure management (SDG 6);
hospitality: slow tourism and landscape co-creation (SDG 11);
food: healthy, local, seasonal and regenerative production (SDG 2);
education: learning Archipelago, educating community and territory (SDG 4);
design calls and fundraising (SDG 17).
