BIELLA CITTÀ ARCIPELAGO

Palazzo del Buongoverno, Cittadellarte, Biella 22-04-2025 The Spazio Arcipelago takes on new life inside the Palazzo del Buongoverno like a living organism, in continuous transformation. Not a static container, but a porous, mutable structure, capable of adapting and responding to the multiple functions and visions that this place hosts: exhibitions, meetings, moments of confrontation and co-designing at the service of a territory that is configured as an archipelago - not fragmented, but interconnected, cooperating, plural.

The first immersive experience is a room with mirrored walls, in the centre of which is a three-dimensional model of the Biella territory. A videomapping takes shape on it, narrating the concept of an “archipelago city”: a network of relations, projects and widespread presences. The mirrored walls multiply the model to infinity, transforming it into a visual archipelago, a landscape of islands that reflect and dialogue with each other.

This leads to the heart of the Spazio Arcipelago: a large, fluid environment, modulated by light textile surfaces that rise up like stage wings. These “white pages” are punctuated by moving texts and images that narrate the key concepts of Statodellarte and the Islands of Biella Città Arcipelago. In the centre, twelve tables arranged according to the shape of Michelangelo Pistoletto's Third Paradise become the symbolic and practical fulcrum of the space: a place for meeting, study and collective elaboration.

In the background, a large reinterpreted illustration of Ambrogio Lorenzetti's ‘Allegory of the Effects of Good Government’ reinterprets the work in a contemporary key, as a graphic vision and design inspiration. The Spazio Arcipelago is never the same: it transforms into an exhibition space, it opens up to collaborative work, it expands to host talks, assemblies, discussions. An open and moving geography, an ecosystem of ideas and possibilities.
