Orso is a social cooperative founded 27 years ago, in response to the closure of asylums, with the aim of providing disadvantaged people with difficult life paths, the opportunity to enter the world of work.
Currently more than 30% of the working members are made up of people from difficult situations, who thus have access to the world of work, economic security and the possibility of a new integration into the social fabric. The cooperative carries out service activities for companies (civil and industrial cleaning, sanitation services, logistics, gardening, transport) in Piedmont and Lombardy. The Cooperative is attentive to environmental problems and to the correct management of the territory. It is registered in the National Register of Environmental Managers and also deals with separate waste collection. In 1987 in the municipality of Biella it created, in synergy with SEAB, the door-to-door home collection of commercial and industrial paper and cardboard, or the "Descartes Project", which it still manages. The Descartes Project represented a turning point in the perception of the importance of separate waste collection.
